Magazine Mock - Front Cover First Draft

This is the first mock of my front cover, I think that it is a good first effort but still need to do more to make it look the way I want it to. But because this was my first draft I was experimenting with different fonts and the colour of the background.

I think that there is still a lot more I need to do to the front cover until it looks professional. I have used Photoshop manipulations on the subject to make him more photogenic as seen on one of my previous blog posts.

I think I will experiment with more manipulations to see if that is how I can improve the magazine, as well as using different font, colour of the text and changing the colour of the background. What I know will be remaining the same is the masthead and the strapline.

  1. Right Connor, you have 5 weeks to complete your magazine, including contents and double page spread. You need to now start really working on this page and not just "experimenting" you don't have time. I appreciate that you are trying to be different and I apologise but I thought feedback had already been done. You need to make sure that your cover is boxed off. I won't be marking anything after the 4th April.
Your image is strong and your layout is ok, but whilst the pose of the image is fab, the quality is poor. I need you to also look at the font and choice of style, from the look of the magazine I have no indication or clear concept of the genre. It's not immediate or built in to any of the decisions, the image suggests rock, the masthead vocals, the font dance music and the house style is non descript. You have a lot of work to do and I expect to see you on Wednesday for as long as it takes to rectify this.
